Interpreting the Quran: Traditional Approaches vs. Modern
Abstract
Interpreting the Quran is a complex endeavor that has been approached through traditional methods and, more recently, modern methodologies. This scholarly article examines the differences between traditional approaches and modern methods in interpreting the Quran, analyzing their methodologies, assumptions, and implications. Drawing from classical Islamic scholarship, contemporary Quranic studies, and academic literature, this article explores the strengths and limitations of both traditional and modern approaches. It discusses the historical context of traditional interpretations and the evolution of modern methodologies, as well as the implications of these approaches for contemporary understandings of the Quran. By providing a comprehensive analysis, this article contributes to a deeper understanding of the diversity of approaches to Quranic interpretation and their significance in shaping Muslim thought and practice
